We pride ourselves at Suwanee Dental Care with one of the most comprehensive new patient dental exams. We use "state of the art" diagnostics.
Our exam includes intra/extra oral digital photographs, full mouth digital x-rays, a complete hard tissue exam, a full six point periodontal exam, an oral cancer screen with a Velscope and a simple finger stick to check for oral/systemic diseases such as diabetes, C-reactive protein and cholesterol.
The digital pictures allow our dentists to make a through cosmetic evaluation. They look at color, spacing and symmetry. They can then make recommendations for traditional or Invisalign orthodontics, bleaching, bonding, veneers and replacement of missing teeth.
Digital x-rays find dental disease early; enabling our doctors to be proactive, instead of reactive to "toothache" pain.
The hard tissue exam shows previous dental conditions and treatment. Present conditions are also noted and needed treatment assessed.
The six point periodontal exam involves measuring the space between the tooth and gum tissue in six locations. The doctors also look for bleeding and recession. Measurements above 3mm and bleeding are signs of periodontal disease. Periodontal or "gum" disease has also been linked to diabetes, heart disease and low birth weight babies, among other systemic diseases. Periodontal disease requires specific treatment and management.
The oral cancer screening uses new diagnostic technology. It involves the use of a Velscope. The Velscope uses high intensity light on the soft tissue of your mouth to see down to the basal cell layer to find any signs of changes sooner then later with human eyes. Oral cancer is the sixth morbidity causing cancer. It is estimated that one person and hour dies of oral cancer in the United States.
The finger stick will give us an immediate indication of diabetes and heart disease.
All of these exams and screenings allow use to give you the most comprehensive new patient exam and best dental treatment presently available.
If you want comprehensive, complete dental care call Suwanee Dental Care to schedule a new patient exam with our dentist.
